Aligning Brand Identity with Brand Perception

JILL NEUBAUER ARCHITECTS is dedicated to “Building Green,” which means striving for energy and environmental sustainability and incorporating non-toxic materials into every custom home, historic renovation or remodeling project. At the juncture of client story, site, and care for the environment, JNA creates homes.
Over 25 years, JNA's talented team has grown and the body of work has evolved. Their style could be viewed as modern or memorable, but it soon became clear to the owner that their static website did not accurately reflect their brand and its antiquated technology made it difficult for the firm to update the gallery of work and be found on mobile devices. We collaborated closely with the owner and key staff to design and develop a responsive website using WordPress CMS that would better align their brand identity with their brand perception. We simplified the primary navigation to three topics, and categorized the projects so users could easily sift through their large and varied body of work and capabilities. Integrating social media has empowered them to update and post content much more efficiently and frequently.

More Than a Food Pantry
FALMOUTH SERVICE CENTER works to increase self-sufficiency by helping to build networks among clients, neighbors, and agencies. With over 450 volunteers, the campus is truly a place where Falmouth residents can be of service, and in turn, can come if they are in need of service.
Since most of the users would access the website via desktop computers, we created a static HTML site with a content management system on the back end to help staff manage the ever-changing content internally. The site is designed to appeal to a variety of users and offers a variety of services. We designed icons and program logos to help distinguish amongst the many topics.

HYDROID is a field-proven technology leader in advanced marine robotics, specifically autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The company designs and manufactures state-of-the-art solutions for defense, marine research, and commercial applications. Located in the U.S.A., Hydroid is a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, the world’s most trusted manufacturer of AUVs.
We designed and developed a responsive website that would align products with users' applications by supporting searches via a dynamic database. The site was built using Drupal content management system so that Hydroid could post content regularly and easily.

Helping Adult Learners Succeed
NATIONAL COLLEGE TRANSITION NETWORK (NCTN) provides technical assistance and professional development services to community college, adult education, and workforce systems. NCTN designs accelerated career pathways, comprehensive student support services, and effective multi-stakeholder partnerships that help adults attain their educational and career goals and access greater economic opportunity.
The existing website was rich in content but not mobile-friendly. We built the new site as responsive using WordPress – a CMS platform that NCTN was most familiar with – and encouraged them to think differently about organizing the vast amount of content that the site would continue to contain. We changed the interface to be more user-friendly by creating content hierarchy based on their four core areas of service and introducing a more intuitive primary, secondary, and tertiary navigation system. We created a custom-illustrated icon set to align with these core areas of service as well as supporting practices and resources.

Building Career Portraits
JULIE DESORGHER CONSULTING (JDC) helps create the initial impression employers or consultants make when searching for prospective candidates. JDC works with job seeking individuals to develop a customized resume and an on-line profile tailored to meet their needs and career goals as well as help them learn how to best present themselves in any interview setting.
As a start-up, we designed the brand essentials for JDC, which included developing a professional presence both online and offline. To keep within the client's budget, we designed the user interface on a responsive CMS platform and built a single-page site using parallax scrolling. The illustrated icons we customized for JDC help to emphasize the three areas of our client's expertise.

MACKENZIE BROTHERS CORPORATION brings innovative solutions to custom home building and remodeling, qualities that come from success in meeting the needs of discriminating clients as well as the challenges of New England's diverse geography. Their fine craftsmanship is found in custom homes and communities throughout Cape Cod and the Islands, and extends to Greater Boston, Metro West and the South Shore. Led by two brothers that bring more than 30 years of experience, both take pride in being directly involved in each project. They work closely with clients to keep them informed during every phase, even when homeowners can't be onsite.
Mackenzie Brothers asked Carol McLeod Design to build their online presence – one that would reflect their distinctive flair and proven process as well as appeal to those seeking high-quality homes. For this industry, photos really help showcase a builder's talents. And, their target audience group included second homeowners, many traveling from several states away. We designed and developed the website on a responsive platform to enable optimized viewing from desktop, tablet, and hand-held devices. Features included a content management system, visually rich photo galleries, and a private client login where they could describe and show progress of projects specific to each client. The online brand is consistent with the offline branded marketing and sales collateral.
