Giving Back to Families Across Cape Cod & The Islands
Cape Cod Council of Churches
Generations of Hope 2020
Sixty Years of Giving
CAPE COD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES has been serving low-income individuals and families throughout Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket since 1960. Their mission "To Serve God by Serving Others" is central to the various programs and ministries that help touch the lives of more than 7,500 residents every year – regardless of their religious affiliation. Funding comes from individual donors, businesses, member churches, grants, and fund-raising events.
Carol McLeod Design was introduced to the Council in 2016 to create the event logo and promotional collateral for the Council's very first fund-raising effort entitled "Generations of Hope." As we learned more about all that the Council had been providing, it was our turn to give back! Without hesitation, we donated our services in support of this worthy organization.
The Council's primary logo is a scallop shell, which is symbolic of the many different spiritual, religious, and humanist pathways that lead to the same place, to the universal center of all life-forms – the spirit, the soul.
The design of the event logo is based on the symbolic tree of life, but uses scallop shells as its crown of leaves to make the event's association with the Council very clear. Since then, we've continued to support all of the Council's Generations of Hope events as an in-kind sponsor, designing the promotional collateral to reflect a unique theme and color palette each year.
And, this year is even more special! 2020 marks the Council's 60th anniversary of giving back to the community. To commemorate their achievement and raise awareness for their organization, we also designed their 60 year anniversary logo. While the scallop shell image was retained, we simplified the illustration to reflect the friendly and welcoming spirit of the organization.
On Saturday, April 4, 2020, Cape Cod Council of Churches will celebrate "Years of Giving" at their fourth Generations of Hope event. It will be held at The Sea View in Dennisport, where appetizers, cocktails and a dinner buffet will be served along with live music and a silent auction. Based on previous years, I have no doubt that it will be a wonderful evening! All proceeds will benefit the Council's programs and ministries, including:
- A Baby Center
- Covenant to Care for Foster Families
- Faith Family Kitchen
- Hands of Hope Food Pantry & Outreach Center
- Homeless Ministries
- Hospital Chaplaincy
Congratulations to Cape Cod Council of Churches for all that they have accomplished and contributed to the community over the past 60 years. We'll be joining the celebration. We hope to see you there!
